Motor Controller (H-Bridge) and PWM Modulation



The Jaguar and Victor motor controllers are Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) controlled and PWM modulated H-Bridge. The H-Bridge structure provides the direction and mode of the motor controller. The PWM modulation of the H-Brige provides the varying power level. The structure and states of an H-Bridge are shown here:

The PWM signal generated inside the motor controller turns the H-Brige on and off rapidly. The Jaguar and Victor turn on and off 20,000 times per second. The PWM varies the power by varying how long in each period the H-Bridge is on. The following figure is the output of the motor controller showing the modulation and the direction (sign) change.
